Scope and Content
Scrapbooks contain newspaper and magazine clippings, printed ephemera such as theater programs and tickets, and some photographs. Subjects represented included a wide variety of topics related to Hartford and its history. A group of nine scrapbooks compiled by Walter S. Garde include material relating to the Garde Theater from 1901-1937; two additional scrapbooks include programs from the Capitol Theater. A group of four scrapbooks are related to Bushnell Park. Four scrapbooks compiled by the Hartford Fire Department in the 1970s are primarily related to fire prevention. Three volumes relate to the Connecticut Charter Revision in 1945-1947 and one scrapbook was compiled by John L. Bonee for the Capitol Region Planning Agency between 1966 and 1970.
