Abstract
In 1896, Theodore Wirth was hired as the first Superintendent of Parks for the City of Hartford. George Parker, who began as Superintendent of Keney Park, succeeded Wirth in 1906. Together, the two men had great influence on the City's park system. While some material may be easily attributed to one man or the other, much of it cannot be. It is also possible some of the material was created by the Keney Park Trustees or the Board of Park Commissioners. Therefore, the papers and records below are presented in terms of the Wirth-Parker era.
