Scope and Content
The Education series is arranged topically, and chronologically within each topic. It traces the history of schools in the city, from the Hartford Grammar School and local school districts, to the consolidation into a single district, construction of new high schools, and other related topics. The largest segments are Hartford Grammar School (1 linear foot), Hartford Public High School (including the construction of new high schools, 1 linear foot), Hartford Public, Bulkeley, and Weaver High Schools (.5 linear foot), and School district and building construction issues (.5 linear foot). The following topics have been broken out and consist of no more than .25 linear feet: Administration, Appointments, Board of School Visitors, Children's Playgrounds, Community and Day Care Centers, Evening School, Federal College and Hartford School of Law, Nursery School, Open Air/Outdoor Schools, Taxation, Textbooks, Trade School, Ungraded School, Vacation Schools, and Women's College. An assortment of school/Board of Education business, in chronological order, comprises the final linear foot.
